Another great box from Acme Farms and Kitchen this week.
It feels like Christmas sometimes. I know what meals are being delivered but unpacking all of the fresh produce and other ingredients really makes me happy for some reason. In the box, starting from the left, we have Jasmine rice, white beans, quinoa, chef prepared beef barbacoa, corn tortillas (tucked back behind the beef) coconut milk, fresh pico de gallo, vegan tzatziki, zucchini salsa, kalamata olives, curry paste, thai basil zucchini, cucumber, tomatoes, red bell pepper, red onion, broccoli, wedge of cabbage, baby greens, and sugar snap peas.
The recipes included are for Barbacoa Beef Street Tacos, Thai Summer Vegetable Curry, and Greek Tzatziki Bowl. I’m really looking forward to the last two.
We decided to try out the street tacos first. The barbacoa beef was already prepared so all we needed to do was heat it up in a saucepan. I did add a touch of water because it was a bit dry and I really hate dry beef. Chop up some cabbage for a nice crunch and everything else was already prepared. I especially liked the zucchini salsa. I really need to find a recipe for it so when I’m trying to figure out what to do with my overabundance of zucchini later on this summer I’ll have another recipe. It was a beautiful green salsa and if they didn’t tell me it was zucchini I would never have known. It is definitely a great way to get non zucchini lovers to eat their veggies. It had nice bright flavor that really added to the beef and gave it a nice fresh taste. I honestly would have enjoyed a bit more pico de gallo, but then again I can eat that stuff by the bowl full. We also added some shredded cheese and sour cream to our tacos. My daughter likes flour over corn and after my tortillas kept falling apart I decided next time I’d use flour ones as well.
I absolutely love that there is usually one meal included that takes very little time to prepare. It makes it especially easy on busy weeknight. Not to mention the different prepared sauces. Do you know how long it takes to make pico? It feels like forever because I chop everything by hand. The only downfall is if you want to recreate it later you don’t have the recipe. But I guess that’s what Google is for, right?
I have decided that I need to space the box out to every other week instead of every week. It seemed like a perfect solution but I’m finding that other things seem to interfere during the week and by the time we get to making one of the recipes the next box has been delivered.
If you haven’t tried out a local farm share box, please do. It helps your local economy and you know what you are getting is fresh off the farm and hasn’t been sitting in some cooler for a few weeks before hitting the shelves of the grocery. Just use Google and look for farm share or CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) and a ton of things will pop up. They may not all be as comprehensive as Acme right now but when I first started with them years ago all they had were veggies and some proteins. They have grown and expanded in the last 9 years and have included the Seattle and Portland area as part of their delivery area.
Hi Tina! Some years ago you posted a picture of a celery amigurumi and I have been looking everywhere for a pattern similar to yours. Could you please share the pattern or direct me to someone who could? I would pay for it if that’s an issue, I just really want to make a celery. Thank you! 🙂 ❤

Hi Johanna. You are talking about the whole bunch of celery and not just one stalk right? I found the pattern on ETSY, CrochetNPlay Designs https://www.etsy.com/listing/68746721/grocery-shopping-play-food-crochet?ref=shop_home_active_9&crt=1 . It’s a netted grocery sack with a few other items as well as the celery. Hope this helps.
