What’s on your Thanksgiving table this year?

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and will be here sooner than we think. Right around this time, every year, we start thinking about our Thanksgiving menu and how to parcel it out to folks. This year my middle daughter is hosting and she’s doling out assignments left and right. She really should be a general.

We don’t have to think too hard about it because it rarely changes. I can add to it all day long but I don’t dare take something away or else there will be a mutiny.

We have to have a big breakfast of course because we don’t eat dinner until later in the afternoon. It’s usually breakfast burritos or biscuits and gravy. My kids are nothing if not predictable. Not sure yet what we are going to end up having actually.

There will be a few appetizers. I like to invite people over a couple of hours prior to actually eating so a few snacks on hand are always welcome.

Appetizer Meatballs – turkey meatballs with a chili sauce and jellied cranberry sauce. Served in a crock-pot so people can chow down all day.
Layered Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto Dip – The dip is served hot with crackers or crostini and doesn’t last long.

The main event menu is pretty long because no one ever wants to leave any of their favorites out:

Turkey with Stuffing
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Three Corn Casserole
Garlic Green Beans
Coleslaw
Cranberries
Pistachio (Watergate) Salad
Homemade Dinner Rolls

Dessert will be:

Pumpkin Roll – this is my sister’s contribution every year. It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving or Christmas without it
Apple Pie
Pumpkin Pie

I always like to get the Christmas holiday baking season started with two family favorites.

Scotchy Peanut Butter Bars – my mom made these when were just little, so the recipe has to be at least 50 years old
Fudge – can’t go wrong with the old standby of marshmallow fluff and chocolate chips. I have never been able to conquer regular fudge.

So what is on your Thanksgiving table this year?
