Yes, I’ve been in a major crochet slump. I can’t even remember when I last picked up a hook. I feel like I’m finally back in the mood for crochet and thought I’d do a quick little catch up of the few things I’ve finished and what I’m working on now.
More play food. These were crocheted last year and I finally got around to finishing them up. All of the patterns are from CrochetNPlayDesigns on ETSY, but I just noticed she no longer has a shop and her blog is pretty old, so I apologize I can’t share. Boy am I glad I bought up a bunch of her patterns before she closed up shop.
So here we have the Mexican food. A taco, tortilla chips with salsa, guacamole and queso. The bowl for the tortilla chips wasn’t part of the pattern but I thought we needed a bowl so made one up quick.
Next we have the hamburger meal with a drink and fries.
I love this next one, chicken nuggets with dipping sauce.
I tweaked the original potato pattern just a smidge to make them look more potato-like instead of round blobs with eyes. You can see the little dips in them just like you would see in a real potato.
Condiments anyone?
How about some canned goods.
So that is the food that is finished. There are still several waiting in little zip lock bags waiting to join these. I think there is a cinnamon roll, lettuce, jar of peanut butter and few other things as well.
With the warm weather I made some of those crocheted water balloons made from Bernat Blanket yarn. The pattern is from Left in Knots. I haven’t had a chance to test them out with my grandson yet though. I need to do it soon, the weather is starting to cool down a bit. These were so easy to make and took maybe 10-15 minutes top. I ended up with a dozen of the things and used one whole ball of the blanket yarn. Boy are they soft and I honestly can’t wait to see if they live up to the hype.
I started working on the Peppermint Pinwheel Afghan CAL through the Crochet Crowd and Yarnspirations but I’m not going to have it done in time for the contest. Oh well, no matter the afghan will turn out cute anyway.
I actually had bought some Premier Sweet Roll yarn and started working on the Pinwheel afghan but I didn’t like the way it was working out so went with some basic colors instead. So now I had to find a project that would use up this Sweet Roll. I honestly didn’t see anything out there that really grabbed my attention or sat up and said “hey, make me, make me”! So while I’m plodding along with the Pinwheel my mind kept going to the Sweet Roll and wondering what I could do with it. I had a vague idea in mind and frankly couldn’t wait to get started, especially before I forgot what I was thinking about. I’m not going to say much more because I honestly don’t know if it’s going to work out or not, but I will give you a sneak preview and if it turns out like I hope then I’ll try and write out the pattern and share it.
Hopefully now I’ll get back on track and finish up all the projects I have started and let’s not even go into all of the things my kids have asked me to make them. There aren’t enough hours in the day. Too bad I have to work, huh?
