Locavore Box – September 29, 2015

Tina October 7, 2016 0 Comments

Yes, I know this is late, very, very late. I’ve been having some major issues with WP not wanting to upload any of my images. Extremely frustrating! I finally solved the problem by clearing my browser history. Yeah, something like that has had me pulling out my hair.

So here we are a week late, but better late than never as they say, huh?

acme-29-sep-16

Lettuce, kale, beets, fennel, whole wheat fusili pasta, bacon, apple, cauliflower, onion, garlic, tomatoes, brindisi cheese, pizza dough and focaccia bread

Here is a big tip that I finally started doing to preserve my kale a lot longer. I pull it off the stem and put it in a zip top plastic bag as soon as I get home. Make sure to push out all of the extra air and it stores for a couple of weeks. If I didn’t use the kale within a couple of days it would get all wilted and yukky.

You all probably know that and have done that forever, not me, I’m a little slow I guess.

Recipes included in the box were:

Caramelized Onion and Brindisi Flatbread served with Kale and Apple Salad
BLTs and Quick Pickled Beets and Fennel
Fusili with Roasted Cauliflower
