So I hope you all will forgive me for a mini rant here about one of my major pet peeves. Rude and discourteous drivers.
First, I want to start off by saying that I am not the world’s greatest driver and I have made some really stupid mistakes while driving and have probably had someone go home and have their own mini rant about my cluelessness. I know that we tend to get “in the zone” while we are driving and may not pay as close attention as we should. But seriously, you can tell when someone made an honest mistake and when someone is being an ass on purpose.
The other day on my way home from work I observed at least five different things that just made me shake my head and wonder what people are thinking. Oh, by the way, I live about 2 miles from work.
1. Car is sort of half in and half out of a turn lane and then decides at the last minute they want to go straight and cuts in front of me. Fine, but at least use your turn signal to let me know what the hell you are planning on doing!
One of my major pet peeves, people not using their turn signals. Come on folks it’s common courtesy to let the person behind you, or coming towards you, what your plans are, they aren’t mind readers.
2. Same car still can’t decide what lane they want to be in so they hover to the right and then slip back to the left, back over to the right and then at the last minute move over to the far left turn lane, once again without a turn signal. Sheez lady get off of your frickin’ cell phone and pay attention.
Oh by the way, yes it was a lady and I also happen to be female so no need to get up in arms about some male bashing female drivers again.
3. Let’s just totally ignore the “Do Not Enter” sign so you can get that close parking space. As I was entering the parking lot of the grocery store some guy is coming towards me from the wrong way.
Then as I was leaving this same grocery store I saw a truck coming in the same wrong way, this time a car was trying to leave at the same time and they had a little stand off. They guy in the truck is pissed at the woman driving the car because she won’t move. Well I wouldn’t have moved either. How is it my problem you can’t read signs?
So maybe I am a little bit witchy and pull up behind her and wait for this guy to move too. I always go out that way and I wasn’t going to accommodate some ass who is too lazy to drive around and go in the correct way. The thing that pissed me off the most was the way the guy tapped on the woman’s window and gave her hell for not moving and the people walking by gave dirty looks to the same woman. Come on! This guy was in the wrong but she is the bad guy?
4. Last but not least, let’s just drive into on-coming traffic because you still have 5 or 6 cars before the turn lane and the green turn arrow just lit up.
Yes, really this happened right in front of me. We had 5 or 6 cars in front of us before we could get to the turn lane. So he drives over the line and straight into the on-coming traffic so he could make the green arrow. Oh, I see, those other cars have to watch out for you because you are more important than anyone else!
This all just happened on my home one evening. Let’s not get started on the other stupid and discourteous drivers that are out there. Like driving without your headlights when it starts getting dark or there is fog or it is raining. Dude, I know you can see but what about the other drivers, can they see you?
How about the left lane homesteaders? They just drive that left lane the whole way, whether they are passing anyone or not. After all it is too much effort to move over to the right after passing and you’re eventually going to pass someone slower than you right?
Ok, so I think I’m done for now. Thank you for letting me vent a bit. I’m sure you are all familiar with and can understand where I’m coming from. I wonder what people are thinking when they are out there driving around, are they? Thinking, that is.
