Holy cow how December has flown! I didn’t realize that my last blog post was December 3rd. Where in the world has the time gone? I’ve been a busy little bee this month and thought I would just wrap it all up in one blog post. Between work, shopping, finishing up crochet projects for Christmas, baking, decorating…..I just didn’t have time to even keep up with my email. But it was a great Christmas and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was so worth the rush and effort once the gifts were all opened and treats were devoured.
I spent a day making Christmas cookies with my mom, daughter, niece, nephew, and sister-in-law. It was so fun helping the two little ones roll out the cookie dough and cutting out the cookies.
My mom helped them decorate and it was so cute seeing them so intense, and then of course sampling their creations.
To me it’s what the holidays should be, spending time with family and friends, teaching, nurturing, sharing traditions and making a few new ones. My sister-in-law would like to make this a yearly thing now and I’m certainly looking forward to it.
Then there were two more days of baking with my daughter. I really think we over did it but we both enjoyed it. It really is the first time she has spent so much time baking with me. She learned how to make a few of the favorite treats and was surprised at how easy they were. She’s not afraid of making fudge anymore!
It took forever to get my tree up and decorated. I had to resort to my old artificial tree because we never could find a time to go out to the tree farm and find our tree. Fortunately my artificial tree is a beautiful tree and it’s hard to tell it’s fake. As usual it took me about 2 or 3 days to decorate. I have to pace myself.
Just a few of the ornaments that are hanging on the tree. I don’t have a theme at all other than anything and everything that means something to us. We have Disney, Hallmark, wooden German ornaments, and all sorts of hand made ornaments.
I think I actually only finished one crochet project and it was this little Minion coffee sleeve for my daughter. I made it up as I went along based off of another one I saw. I still need to work on it a bit, it was a bit loose and I had to use acrylic yarn instead of cotton like I would prefer. But she loved it, Minion lover that she is.
I hope everyone had as enjoyable holiday that I did! I loved the new traditions we started this year and can’t wait to start planning for next year!
