CSA Box – August 29, 2013

Tina August 29, 2013 3 Comments

My lovely box of goodies from Acme Farms and Kitchen.

Dried garbanzo beans, pie crust dough, 1/2 dozen eggs, fresh spaghetti pasta (whole wheat), chipotle tequila sausage, gouda cheese, yukon gold potatoes, red onion, jalapeno pepper, cabbage, corn, leek, cherry tomatoes, green onions, carrots

The menu and recipes that were included are:

Vegetable Stir-Fry with Whole Wheat Noodles
Grilled Sausages with Roasted Corn Salad
Corn and Leek Quiche
Garbanzo Bean and Potato Curry

Not sure what to try first. My son is out of town until next week so it’s just me. I know he’ll want me to wait with the sausages, so in to the freezer they go. He wouldn’t be interested in the quiche or the curry, so I’ll probably make the quiche this weekend so the pie crust dough doesn’t go bad.

It’s so neat that the box isn’t just veg–I like that they include other foods AND the recipes!

I know it’s great! I like that I can make 3 or 4 meals a week with it. I can spread it out even more with a few extra pantry staples and proteins if I don’t think the family would like any of the recipes that week.

Not sure why but I get so excited about leeks. They’re super expensive for us so when they come in the farmshare, it rocks.
