Just a passing thought.
The other day I was chatting with a Canadian friend and teasing her about their spelling. Told her that they needed to learn to spell proper and maybe spell checker wouldn’t keep telling them they spelled “colour” wrong. It was a just a joke and she knew it and hit me back with Americans being so lazy that they leave out letters in their programming (referring back to spell checker). I got a chuckle out of it but then went on to say that Americans really are lazy. I mean look at some of the inventions we’ve come up with to make our lives “easier”. Fast food was the first thing that came to mind.
I know what you are going to say, there have been food kiosks and people peddling their foodstuffs for centuries. But leave it to the Americans to make a multi-billion dollar business out of it. Not to mention drive-thrus. It’s not just for McDonald’s anymore. We have drive-thru dry cleaning, coffee shops, liquor, wedding services…need I go on? Check out these drive-thrus.
So yeah, I think Americans are becoming very lazy. They say they are just so busy and it really saves so much time and it’s more efficient, etc. Hmmm, I don’t think my Grandma had a problem getting everything done she needed to get done and she walked. Not us, gotta jump in the car to go two blocks. Oh, trust me, I’m just as guilty as the next person and I always tell myself that next I should walk. Just like losing weight, “I’ll start next week”.
So are Americans lazy or are they brilliant by coming up with so many time saving devices and ideas?
