When I picked up my CSA box today I thought it would be great to share my bounty with everyone.
Check out all of these goodies!

We have green peppers, onions, garlic, zucchini, kale, carrots, a leek, fresh basil, fresh pasta, ground beef, fresh bakery rolls, cherry tomatoes, dried beans, 1/2 dozen eggs, fresh handmade tortillas, and some fabulous cheese.
I get a weekly box from Acme Farms and Kitchen. They have so many different options to choose from but I’m lazy and go with what they call a Locavore box. You have a choice of Turf or Surf, Large or Small, weekly or every other week. Each of the Locavore boxes have the same items to make it really easy for everyone. If you want to order a few more items and add to your box, no problem. Fresh cheese, meats, bakery items, sauces, etc., it’s all available. You don’t have to order the box, I just found it was the easiest and I like the surprise each week. You can go through their on-line store and order whatever is available. There is a minimum order of course.
What a wonderful way to support your local farmers and small businesses and ensure you and your family eat healthy. The small box has enough for 3-4 meals which can feed a family of four. They even include recipes that incorporate the products in your box. You only have to add a few pantry items, how cool is that? I did this for awhile and then dropped it because I thought it was a bit pricey. But trust me, after going through my grocery bills for a few months I realized that I get a lot more for my money than I do at the grocery store and it’s fresher. I highly recommend checking out your area to see if you have a CSA available.
The menu this week is:
Gemelli with Blistered Cherry Tomatoes
Sloppy Joes with Kale Slaw
White Bean Tacos with Zucchini Salsa
Zucchini Bake
I will probably only make the Gemelli with Tomatoes and the Zucchini Bake, with a few tweaks and additions of my own I’m sure. I want to use the tortillas while they are fresh so think I am going to do a chicken taco instead of the White Bean taco. Mmmm, sounds yummy!
